You're doing a great job, mama.

This little babe bonked her head pretty good last night. She was crying harder than she normally does for anything (and anyone who knows her knows she rarely cries) and although she's bumped her head before, I was particularly anxious because I just finished reading my sweet friend Sadie's blog post about her little man and his head bump which ended up in a scary trip for her. I needed to know she was ok. I needed to see a shred of normalcy in her character. I needed to see one of her cute little quarks so I could get some sleep. So we did what we always do when she's upset. We wrapped her up in her Saranoni blanket and went for a walk around the block. As she laid in her daddy's arms I kept staring at her waiting for a sign she was herself and that she was ok. She was so angelic and had the most somber look on her face as she settled down from crying with her sweet little sniffles. I remember looking at her under the yellow street lamp thinking she had never looked more beautiful. I closed my eyes and prayed for an answer. Take her to urgent care? Or just go to sleep and stop worrying? Kurt put her in my arms for the rest of the walk and I held my sweet baby girl and felt a rush of calmness come over me. She was ok. So we returned home and I kissed her a thousand times and put her in her crib. God will answer prayers as he did mine last night but one thing remains inevitable: He wants us to know love for our children to show how he loves us. And as babies do to learn, they'll get hurt and a new set of worries will ensue. Being a mother is terrifying in so many ways but a little prayer goes a long way. Prayer for guidance, for peace, strength, and most importantly prayer for grace. Grace for yourself because you're doing a great job, mama.
